I have for a long time now often got greatly troubled upon receiving a death report. Especially where I stood in great doubt if the deceased was known by Christ. Understanding that they then must have thus ran out of chance (as far as salvation is concerned). Greatly wondering at times (though not in a defiant manner) just how much displeased the Lord gets as he allows such to happen given that ”he is not pleased by the death of a sinner – whether indeed he could not have intervened somehow.
While I still cannot tell with certainty the answer to the above wonder, it has recently occurred to me that the Lord must ever have a valid reason (however wicked a humanitarian man may find it) to let a Christless soul thus sink into perdition. Upon which I reckoned it further makes much sense for me to solely strive, in his grace, to ever be found praying by as many such death reports. Then shall I ever know, as it must ever be the case with the Lord, that I could not have done anything more to help the situation.
Especially since we (I and wife in one of the evening discussion meetings we normally hold) recently came to the understanding that want/lack of grace is seemingly one of the reasons why some souls pass on outside Christ. And equally that it is through the labours (such as intercession) of saints that more of this needed grace is to be availed. And indeed this, if the case – and it apears to be, must be concerning to a saint who may at anytime fear they may be under-labouring. The Lord have mercy 🙁
